Claremont Graduate University
Dear brothers and sisters: As we honor of blessed memory His Holiness Pope Shenouda III, we remember his rich ministry in all fields of Coptic life. One of these fields is Coptic studies
His Holiness was invited twice by Claremont Graduate University (CGU) in 1977 and 1989. On each occasion, he delivered a public lecture that was over crowded by faculty, students and the Coptic community. Claremont still remembers these occasions. On 4 January 2008, Pope Shenouda received in his residence in Cairo a group of 28 persons (deans, faculty and students) from Claremont led by Professor Gawdat Gabra. His Holiness graciously spent two hours with them. After giving them a lecture, he answered their questions, and spoke about Claremont to Aghapy TV and CTV. A DVD is available upon request. Also, please read about it in English (with photo) at: http://www.stshenouda.com/AcademicPGM/KarenT-17Feb2008.pdf and in Arabic at: http://www.wataninet.com/watani_Article_Details.aspx?A=27478 Through the leadership of Professor Gawdat Gabra, Coptic studies in Claremont made a remarkable progress. Read about it in 9 links/articles at: http://www.stshenouda.com/AcademicPGM/Progress_CGU.pdf These significant achievements were made possible by a pledge from St. Shenouda Society to provide a semi-annual $18,000 grant to CGU. This amount is due by the end of June and December every year. We are currently $13,000 away from meeting our 30 June installment. Your generous donations will continue to enable this important program. There are three methods to make your tax-deductible contribution: 1) Pay by credit card at: http://www.stshenouda.org/StShenouda_CGU.htm 2) Make check payable to: St. Shenouda Coptic Society, 1701 S.
