Father Philopateer will also be joining to discuss his experience as an eyewitness to the military driving tanks into the crowd of protesters in Maspiro, Egypt in October 2011.

Information on our speakers:

Walid Phares is an American scholar of Lebanese origins. He is a professor and commentator on global terrorism and Middle Eastern affairs. Phares has testified before committees of the U.S. State, Justice, Defense and Homeland Security Departments, the United States Congress, the European Parliament, and the United Nations Security Council. He has been a Terrorism expert at NBC from 2003 to 2006 and is a contributor at Fox News since 2007. He has published numerous books, most recently The Coming Revolution: Struggle for Freedom in the Middle East.

Magdi Khalil is a Coptic political analyst, researcher, author and executive editor of the Egyptian weekly Watani International. He is also a columnist for Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper, London, a free-lance writer for several Arabic language newspapers, and a frequent contributor to Middle East broadcast news TV. Khalil has also published three books and written numerous research papers on citizenship rights, civil society, and the situation of minorities in the Middle East. He is one of the most prominent advocates of human rights in Egypt. He focuses in his writings on minorities, including Copts in Egypt.
